Teletherapy

Teletherapy

Advantages

Teletherapy has grown dramatically in popularity because it gives people from all walks of life access to high quality care from the comfort of their home or office. People with very busy schedules appreciate the convenience of not having to commute for therapy and it is convenient for those with disabilities, chronic illness, and other reasons that make office visits complicated.

  • Research has indicated that teletherapy is as good as in-person therapy
  • Clients may have more freedom in choosing their own location
  • Complete privacy – No one needs to know that you are working with a therapist
  • Most insurance providers now cover teletherapy

Currently, my practice is exclusively Telehealth or Teletherapy

How easy is it for my clients to use Teletherapy?

It is very easy for clients. You will be able to have a session with me any place that you have adequate internet connection, and the degree of privacy you desire.

  • On our first call, and after agreeing to a date/time for an appointment, I will ask for your email address to send, via HIPAA compliant platform, legally required standard forms to complete, sign and return prior to our first appointment. These forms are confidential and easy to access using SimplePractice platform.
  • You will receive a confirmation of your scheduled appointment as well as a reminder 24 hours prior to your appointment that will have a link to join our video session.
  • On the day of our scheduled appointment, you will click the link to connect with me and begin our session.

You may access the link (via your web browser) from a computer, tablet or mobile phone. If using a mobile phone, you must first download the mobile app prior to our scheduled appointment.

Teletherapy or Virtual Sessions

Teletherapy, Zoom, FaceTime and other virtual platforms are now familiar to almost everyone from all walks of life. Given this familiarity for users of virtual mediums it goes without saying that the best possible environment for a therapy session is quiet, private, undisturbed and free from distractions for the period of time that we meet. Recently, it has not been unusual for clients “private place” that is free from distraction, to be found inside their vehicles.

Confidential and Secure

I use SimplePractice platform. Telehealth or virtual therapy is fully integrated within SimplePractice which meets administrative, technical, and physical control requirements defined by HIPAA. All of the data within the SimplePractice application, including the Telehealth feature, is encrypted using industry-recognized best practices that go above and beyond compliance requirements.
